Birthday Bonanza!

Bonanza Buddies

Y’all! Have you seen the Bonanza Buddies stamp set?! Can we just take a minute to appreciate how stinkin’ adorable these little critters are? Seriously, take a minute and ooh and ahh over these guys (especially that ahhh part). They’re super cute…am I right?!

Seriously though, as soon as I saw this set, I knew I HAD to have it. I’m the nursery director for our church and I try to send out birthday cards to all of my “nursery babies” as I like to call them. This set is perfect for them! (Psst…if you’re the parent of one of my nursery babies…don’t show them…this might be their card. haha)

Today, we’re going to make a super fun, super cute, “fun-fold” card. Not sure what the stamping world calls this fold, but I’m gonna call it a fun flap card (cause I made it so I can do that).

To start with you’re going to want to cut your cardstock to the following dimensions:

  • Bermuda Bay:
    • 7″ x 5.5″, score at 2.75″ (this is your card base)
    • 2.75″ x 3″
    • 4.75″ x 1.5″, score at .5″ (this is your flap/banner)
  • Birthday Bonanza DSP:
    • 2.5″ x 5.25″ (left side of card)
    • .5″ x 5.25″ (right side of card)
  • Whisper White:
    • 4″ x 5.25″ (inside of card)
    • 2.5″ x 2.75″ (to stamp on)

Now lets get to stamping. On your 2.5″W x 2.75″H piece of Whisper White, stamp your koala bear using Smokey Slate for his body and Memento Black for his face. The string of the balloon I used Bermuda Bay and then Mango Melody for the balloon itself. The sentiment is stamped in Bermuda Bay.

Stamp your birthday koala bear using Smokey Slate, Memento Black, Bermuda Bay, and Mango Melody.

To stamp the sentiment on the inside of the card, I used Smoky Slate. Remember, some of the white shows when the card is closed. You may want to use a pencil to lightly trace a line onto your whisper white so you know where to stamp. I didn’t and when I close my card it just barely covers all my words. Phew…that was close! (Don’t forget to erase your pencil line when you’re done.)

Stamp the inside text using Smoky Slate.

With the stamping out of the way, we can now assemble the card. YAY!

Glue your small strip of DSP onto the right side of your inside Whisper White. Doesn’t that look festive?!

Use the triple banner punch (or freehand cut) the banner of your flap. Fold your score line, using your one folder to get that crisp fold, and glue the .5″ portion to the BACK of your large Whisper White Cardstock. Now you can glue that piece to your Bermuda Bay card base. Voila! You have a fun flap.

Time to Assemble!

Glue the 2.5″ x 5.25″ DSP to the front flap of your card. (Don’t these little critters just make you smile?!)

Glue your small stamped Whisper White to the Center of your 2.75″ x 3″ Bermuda Bay. Glue this to the front of your banner/flap.

Now your card is all assembled and ready for the finishing touch. A little bling! I used the Basic Adhesive Backed Sequins to give it that extra punch of fun.

Don’t forget the BLING!

And because naked envelopes are just no fun, lets stamp that envelope too! I chose the super cute little toucan for my envelope. I used Memento Black for my toucan and the balloon strings. For his beak, I used Grapefruit Grove. And finally, I stamped the balloons in Mango Melody, Grapefruit Grove, and Bermuda Bay.

Don’t leave your envelope naked!
