So yesterday we did some simple stamping. Today we’re going to step up that card and deck it all out. Where are my avid crafters out there? This card’s for you!
Cut out the following pieces:
- Basic Black:
- 11″ x 4.25″, score at 5.5″ (this is your card base)
- Whisper White:
- 4″ x 25″ (x 2 pieces: 1 inside, 1 outside)
- 2″ x 1/2″ (banner)
- scrap to stamp your ladybug and flower on, then die cut
- Real Red:
- 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″
- Glimmer Gold
- sliver/scrap piece about 1/8″x 1/2″ (optional to step up the banner)
Let’s get this card going. You’ll need to take your Real Red Cardstock and lay the stencil on top of it. (I like to use a little bit of Pixie Spray on the back of my stencil. This makes it slightly tacky like a post it note so the stencil doesn’t slip). Use a dauber or sponge and your black ink to shade in your polka dots. I did mine solid black on the bottom and left it lighter on the top. Cute, huh? Now our paper looks like a lady bug!

Next stamp your flower and lady bug. Color them using your Stampin’ Blends. Use your lighter colors for most of your coloring, then shad with your darker colors. Go back over with your lighter color to soften the blending. Once colored, I added some Wink of Stella to the ladybugs winks and around the inside of the flower petals. Cut these out using the super fun Ladybug Dies. While you’re at your cutting station, figure out where you want your lady bug to go so you know where to use your “flying/swirl dashed die”. Not exactly sure what you call that little doo-hicky, but I think you can figure out what I’m getting at by looking at the picture. haha!
Don’t forget to stamp and color a lady bug on the inside of your card and on the envelope. Don’t leave them naked!

Stamp your sentiment and use the triple banner punch to give it that cute banner edge. (You can also cut this with your snips if you prefer).
Now let’s piece this bad boy together. Glue your inside piece to the inside of your card. Glue the real red polka dot piece onto the 2nd (non stamped) piece of whisper white. Glue this down to the basic black card base.
Using your Take Your Pick tool’s biggest round tip, roll it around on the back of your flower and lady bug to round them out. Adhere them using Dimensionals to give them dimension and texture. (For the wings and very center of the flower I did a double layer of dimensionals. the body and outside petals/stem I used a single layer.

Tape a sliver of gold glimmer to the back of your banner. Glue the sentiment banner to the card. Add a few red rhinestones to the top left of your card and you are ready to send this card out to a special lady in your life. It’s bound to make her smile and brighten her day!
