Have you ever had a certain object, smell, flower, or the like that instantly takes you back and reminds you of a certain time, place, or person? Hydrangeas do that for me. They always make me think of Granny, my great grandmother. She and I would sit in her room and chat away the day. I loved her so much. My grandfather gave us a clipping of her hydrangea bush from her home in Montezuma, GA. It grew into a big beautiful bush in our front yard, and those beautiful blue blooms would remind me of her. I even had blue hydrangeas as my wedding flower so she could be a part of our big day.
As soon as I saw the “Beautiful Friendship” stamp set in the 2019/2020 Annual Catalog, I knew I HAD to have it. And of course, the hydrangeas had to be blue.
To make this card, I kept it simple. 1 layer, 1 stamp set, 1 beautifully simple card, just like Granny would have loved.
To start with you will want to cut the following:
- Blackberry Bliss Card Stock: 8.5″ x 11″, score at 5.5″
- Whisper White Card Stock: 4″ x 5.25″ (2 pieces – 1 for the front, 1 for the inside)
Stamp your flowers. To mask some of the flowers, I stamped on regular copy paper, cut out the flowers and used them to cover my stamped images that I didn’t want to overlap. This also helps to give your card some dimension without adding lots of card stock layers. Simple and Easy!
While you’re at it, go ahead and stamp the inside insert and the envelope!
Once you’ve got your stamping done, pop on a couple pearl accent embelishments adhere your card front (I prefer Tombo Multi-Glue). Adhere the inside piece, write your message to a friend and send that card off in the mail. It’s sure to make their birthday extra special!
